Since a handful of colleagues reached out and asked about the NSF CAREER proposal, I thought I could share my experiences here. Hopefully, it will be helpful.

I wrote my NSF CAREER proposal in the summer of 2020, and got the award notification in May 2021. It was my first time submitting to the CAREER program. Since the NSF program I submitted the proposal to is Computer and Information Science and Engineering : Core Programs IIS: Human-Centered Computing (HCC), a lot of the points made here may be adapted to HCC better than the other programs.
