About

Marco Freschi is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. With a background in materials engineering, his research focuses on bio-inspired morphing materials and their applications in sustainable technologies. He is particularly interested in how materials can adapt to environmental stimuli to enhance performance and efficiency.

Prior to joining the Morphing Materials Lab, Marco completed his Ph.D. at Politecnico di Milano, where he worked on self-lubricating metal matrix composites for aerospace applications. His experience spans from material synthesis and characterization to the design of bio-inspired actuators for reforestation and environmental sustainability.

Beyond research, Marco is actively involved in academic community initiatives, serving on the board of the Berkeley Postdoctoral Association and advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Outside the lab, he enjoys exploring new fabrication techniques, managing social media projects, and discovering nature through hiking.
